Rudi Metselaar is full professor of Physical Chemistry and presently Dean of the department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. He graduated in 1967 from the University of Amsterdam on a thesis 'Lattice vibrations of solid solutions'. During ten years he worked as researcher at Philips Research Laboratories, Eindhoven in the group Magnetism and Magmetic Materials and then became professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology. His research interests are in the area of solid state chemistry and ceramic materials. The present reserach is focused in particular on nitrides and oxynitrides.
